I’m sure I know the answer to this but I want to get some thoughts. Ive shot and old Jennings carbon XLS and I’m trying to see if taking it to get restrung and tuned is worth it or with limited budget hit up the classifieds for a 21st century bow in the few hundred range.

Any more it takes $100+ to buy new strings. And you still have a $50 bow.
There are some good deals on used (but way newer than yours) bows. Today's cheaper line of bows are way ahead of the old stuff, imo.
I'd rather drop $250-$300 on another bow.
But..... if restringing that one is all the budget allows and it gets you in the woods, then by all means, restring it.
Good luck, whichever you decide...

go to archerytalk.com and check out their classifieds, you can find a pretty rock used bow with accessories for under 200....
2 weeks ago I bought a hoyt rampage xt that came with a brand new qad rest, doinker stabilizer and quiver for 175$$ and they have a budget/older bow section also that you can find really good deals on

Bingo
Put the old bow in the classifieds for $50, someone will want it for bowfishing and then your 1/2 way to a good used bow that is light years ahead of what you have.

OP just buy a set of threads from a reputable builder with a long history of providing a quality product. There are certainly no shortage of quality builders out there and with a little research you can make a well educated opinion. For me, my go to is Brad @ 60x. Between my bows and customer bows I have installed about 4 dozen sets over the last few years with very good results. A quality set should only cost about 100 bucks, anymore and your getting robbed. And if a shop installs a new set for you, charges you and doesn’t verify sync/timing/draw length/peak weight and let off them your getting screwed too.
