Anyone in Baytown with a bow press that can restring a bow?

Not sure what happened but my string just came off my bow. Looking for someone in Baytown with all this traffic. I don’t mind paying you for the favor

A ratchet strap works good in a pinch.

I called Triple Edge to get a quote on restringing and cam replacement (I already had the cam). The lady said they had a 3-week lead time & wanted $130.

I ended up going to Field & Stream on 45-S. $20 for cam replace & restring (had to buy string for $35 online), and done in a day. Garret was the guy who did mine, and he was very knowledgable about bows.

Maybe Triple Edge is too busy this time of year? We bought a bow from them ~8-years ago and they were great to deal with.

Sorry for my delayed response to addressing this post, it was just brought to my attention this morning. Business has been good this year and yes we have been very busy but never too busy to work with our customers. The day that this was originally posted was a few days before opening weekend which would certainly have been one of our busiest weeks of the year.

To address the concerns that this post brought up.

              1. Long Time Frame for Restringing - In order to manage customer expectations that time of year, we usually tell customers 10-14 days for a dropped off restringing, that particular time we had been getting 5-10 restringings (bows and crossbows) dropped off a day, not to mention all the other work/sales we are doing on the spot. During that week I asked Heather to tell people 2-3 weeks on a typical restringing, which includes, ordering, the manufacturers build time as most of ours are custom colors (no additional charge), time for them to ship the strings to me, then 1 hour to 3 days from the time we get the strings to the opportunity to restring the bow (Properly). Now, the equation can change based on customer needs, if strings are in stock, as well as a variety of other factors. We have done many restringings on the spot over the years but that time of year I prefer to do them after hours because it is more efficient use of my time. I actually have the ability to build strings and cables on the spot and used to do it frequently 10 years ago but the custom string builders have stepped up their game significantly in recent years and it is better use of my time to have professional string builders get them to us. Again, we can make exceptions to accommodate emergency situations as we have done many times in the past.

              2. The Cost of Restringings - Our typical restringing is $134.99 and not $130. We pay quite of bit more than $35 for the high end custom strings that we use but there is also a good amount of expertise involved in restringing a bow properly as well as building high quality strings. If you had your own strings labor would have been $60 and we could have done it while you waited. If you order the strings from us like most of our customers do we discount the install labor to get to our final price of $134.99. If you received the same kind of attention to detail from the department store and have the same quality strings that we put on our customer's bows I commend you on making a great deal. However, I would be willing to bet that even though you saved some money, you got short changed on both the strings and restringing. There are many people out there that do not know the difference between a pro shop restringing and a restringing conducted at a department store. However, I do and that is why I only let a few of my employees perform them at my shop. Too much is at stake to risk mistakes or sloppiness. Besides, your bow performs better when timing, tune and cam lean are correct. I've fixed many botched department store restringings over the years and have even had department stores write my shop checks to fix their mistakes from time to time because they wrecked customer's equipment.

We certainly appreciate all the recommendations that we received on this thread to use our shop. Hopefully this clarifies any confusions about our shop and performing restringings.

By the way, myself and my company (Triple Edge Archery) wholeheartedly support the 2nd Amendment unlike ****'s and their Field and Stream retail stores.

Wow sorry for the late post but in the end I did go to triple edge. It’s close to me and I wanted to support local. The only bad thing was I couldn’t support too much because they did their work for almost no cost. They were able to fix my bow within 10 minutes which was great considering I was going on a hunt that weekend which I actually was able to kill my first bow deer. They even let me shoot a few times to make sure everything was good.

I will be back this year when it comes time for me to check my pins and such and when I need a new bow this will be my first and pretty sure my only stop.

I highly recommend triple edge. Thanks for the help

Wasn’t trying to bash Triple Edge. Like I said we bought a new rig there several years ago and had a great experience. The 3-week lead time for a restring was too long for me, so I took mine to FandS where I also had a good experience.

He asked for options, so I gave him another one. I called Triple Edge first, too. They just weren’t able to do it for me this year.

I believe I got the string from Zebra strings? I may have got that recommendation from you guys, but I don’t think it’s inferior. There’s other options out there, and y’all are a great one too. Good luck with your business.
