Depends where you work. Our refinery starts at $31.22 with no experience. You top out in three years. $44.82 2019 top scale. 4/1/2020 $46.39 , 4/1/21 $48.25. (Board operator wages)

Plus $1.50 hr extra on nights. 2.5 pay on holidays. Anything besides regular shift is 1.5 pay.

Raises in-between at 6 month and one year intervals. Plus 401K, insurance, pension, and bonuses.

I keep thinking one day I will try and jump into an operator position. Designing facilities has me very interested in that position. Thanks for the insight.

Kuddos to you for sharing & posting to help others.
Curiosity has me wondering does the role require any training, education, special skill strength? Wondering since you mention no experience pay level & the rest are high hourly rates.

You gotta have a process technology degree, learn how to open/close a valve, have a family member work there or be able to cook a good pot of beans.

What about a good pot of beans in chili? Does that count?

                            That's automatic disqualification.
