Look at the AC unit in Smarts post.
If you can get one with that type of old school analog controls, rather that one with a motherboard and digital controls. They hold up better in the heat and humidity.

No clue. He works for Hamilton electric coop and 2nd in command. Yes he knows his business but not a member on this forum. Carry on. Just telling OP what I have been told.

Lets say you get a 6000 watt heater.

          Divide that by 120(for 120 volts)=

          Then divide 6000 by 240=

You'll need much bigger wire for the 120 volt unit, hence harder working on single circuit versus half the amperage(smaller wire) on 2 circuits, but still same cost to operate.

I put 2 8000BTU 115v heat and cool in my cabin 14x32. Let me tell you they will freeze you out in summer and heat you out in winter. Wouldn’t change a thing.

Thanks and I understand ohm’s law

I was questioning why 240 will cool easier than 120

I'll be looking for a window unit as well. Looking at a 10,000 btu for a 12x28.
Haven't decided on one with both AC & Heat or just get a couple electric heater.

Will be ran on generator since we don't have power.
I’ve got this LG 12,000 btu 115v in my hunting cabin and it’s 14x34, it takes it about 4-5 hours to cool the cabin to where it’s comfortable. It will keep it nice and cold after that even in 100 degree temps. I’m going to put a timer on it to come on about 12:00 pm every Friday and cut off about 10:00pm Friday Incase I don’t show up, that way it’ll be nice and cold when I get there.

I am a big fan of PTAC units. {Hotel Units} and have moved to portable 110 volt units.

We have a lot to keep cool and warm.........

What are the pros and cons of a 115v versus a 230 volt unit?

I'm thinking maybe a 12k BTU Big enough? If not what's the next size up?

Are they all built roughly the same quality? Is there a place to buy that's better than just Lowe's or Home Depot?

Once again, you will need about 18k btu hr to cool 600 sq. ft. If it has some insulation.

because for 12000 watts you'll need 100 amps!

go wire yourself a 100 amp 120 volt circuit.

Recommendation for a 30' travel trailer with one slide that had the air conditioner go out.
Would like to install a AC/Heater window combo instead of replacing the top AC unit. Also the heater is on it's last leg.
