When considering pace of play and looking at defensive stats, look at Points Per Play(PPP) or Yards Per Play(YPP) as this will normalize performance with widely varying paces of play.

I'm curious to see how LSU's defense ends up this year.... When Sumlin came around our offense took off, and our D was **** poor. I think one year we played 3 more games worth of snaps on D then Alabama did..... Jimbo shows up and our defense is suddenly drastically improved, but they play like 20 snaps a game less than Sumlins D did.

Don't get me wrong, I think ELKO has a lot to do with it, but I think LSU moving to this up tempo spread offense is going to prove once and for all that it doesn't matter how much elite talent you have, your defense will suffer and give up points matched with a high octane spread attack. I think LSU D played 95 snaps vs Texas, I bet if you look at last year they didn't play that many snaps maybe ever in a game.
