    Rebuilt title

I’m considering getting a used Jeep as an extra vehicle and keep running across what appear to be clean up nits but with a rebuilt title.

What does that mean? Are these all flood vehicles that were totaled and then repaired?

It could mean anything.. Value decreases by half and dang near impossible to get a loan for.

Have your insurance agent run the vin. It should show damage totals most likely wont tell what caused the damage. But there were probably thousands flooded in the last several years.

Make sure the vin on the dash matches vin on the vehicle computer. You can check it with a code reader.

I've had 2 vehicles with rebuilt titles. No issues. Bank didn't care.

would Carfax report show what the issue was, if I knew why it had a rebuilt title it would help me decide if I wanted it

No way of really knowing what happened. Could’ve been a flood, fire or wreck.

To get a rebuilt title, I had to file paperwork with the state to show what was repaired.

I’m assuming that you can get that info with the vin

A lot of flood vehicles, hail damaged vehicles and even theft losses that are later recovered end up with rebuilt titles.

Our motor home has a rebuilt title, it had about $500 of water damage and the insurance company totaled it. Bought it back for a third of the value.

Ask for a picture of the damage. I looked at a lot of Tacoma's, most guys would send me the before pictures of the damage. If they could not, I would move on.

If you don’t put stacks on that beauty you are missing a fine opportunity to become a legend.

If it's a blue title it most likely means it had a claim filed on it as flood damage.
Doesn't mean it was actually damaged, just that it had the claim filed. Lots of blue title cars around texas/louisiana over the past few years. Check with your insurance company before buying. May only be able to get liability coverage.
