    Flooring Question

Hey guys. My home is an older wood frame pier and beam home with wood floors. Several years ago I installed a laminate flooring, which has been great but we are remodeling and I am going to install new vinyl laminate into this room. Would it be best to remove the old flooring or just place the new floor over the old for more insulation? Wifey says no but I think it would be a benefit. What say you???

    Thanks.

Don't know the answer but we had vinyl laminate installed over hardwood in a rent house and with in 6 months the hardwood was warped and buckled up from condensation. This is a window unit house. They had to pulled it up cut between boards with skill saw and put carpet back down.

If the old laminate is in good shape and the new flooring is the floating type laminate, go right over the top. You do a lot more damage removing the old when it is not necessary.

Two floating floors together is not a good idea, I would take up the laminate.

Happy wife, happy life. Remove the old flooring. Do you want to hear " I told you so" from her in the event something goes wrong.
