    No idea about the highlander, probably take hooking it to a computer diagnostic gizmo to figure out the issue.

    Was driving my 99 tacoma the other day, running about 70-75 and there was a distinct "thud" and the engine died

    Suspect timing belt let go but waiting on mechanic to let me know

    Turns over but no start

    Was just thinking that I needed to get timing belt and water pump changed out before hunting season.

      The vehicles being made today are doing away with the shade tree guy. Gotta be a dang NASA scientist to check and repair a new vehicle.
      We have a 06 Corolla, since new that is a beater...nothing but routine maintenance and fresh oil every 5K...267,000miles. Just changed the OEM struts!
      Makes it hard for me to NOT like a Toyota.
