    Teal Decoy Advice

I need some new teal decoys, so trying to figure out a few things...

    Best place to buy dekes
    Recommendation on best brand
Also thoughts on best economical option that will still be a good product.
Do most guys in central Texas run green wings? Blue wings? A combination...?
Will be hunting within an hour of Waco for the most part.

I realize that the 2nd and 3rd question may contradict a bit but trying to weigh my options and figure out what I should do. Thank you for the thoughts.

I would use any ducks decoys for teal running a mojo dove in the air and they will flock in. Teal will come in to most spreads.

We use big duck decoys. We only throw out a dozen, seems to work for us.

I hunt academy or whatever I can pick up cheap. I know some will say it makes a difference using high end, but we shoot birds if they are around. Run two mojos and 3-4 dozen. Mix of blue and green and a little big duck as well. On best brand, folks seem to prefer G&H due to the paint durability and made in the USA/customer service. I've never run them so I can't comment on them personally.

I would love to not “need” to buy any- never really hunted teal season before so just kind of assumed I’d have more luck with teal dekes.... I probably have 6 or 8, so just run those with some big ducks and my mojos? Sounds good to me.... thanks for the input guys

I use about a dozen teal dekes and about that many more big duck hen decoys. The birds wont have their full colors yet so the hen dekes look more natural. That being said, teal aren't very picky birds and most any spread will bring them in.

2 dozen blue wing teal decoys I use Avvon or game winner with one mojo and they should come in there not the brightest ducks

They'll plop into anything that looks close to a duck. They are curious birds. I used to spot them down the bank a ways. Then step out into the water and kick it a few times. Then run back to the brush. And they would jump up and fly down the bank, then set down in the water I just kicked up. So, I did the only natural thing at the time, and shot-em.

Yep as others have already said it really doesn’t matter in teal season. If i had to chose between running 3 mojos or 3 dozen decoys in teal season i would take the mojos. With that being said i am the guy will who be throwing 5 doezen teal decoys and 5 mojos.

Like others have said, early teal are the easiest it’s by far. Throw out whatever decoys you have, and as many mojos as you can get ahold of.

In today’s world, most over complicate things. Couple dozen decoys is all you need. They will flock to motion decoys also.

Is south Louisiana you can hunt the bayous without anything as they flow low following the waterways. Ponds are also good but hunting close to a bayou that enters the pond is the ticket. Most times you can kill your limit before sunrise. Keep it simple and have fun. Good luck
