We saw a total of 7 outside of Gustine on opening day. Didn't take a single shot.

Worst opener ever no exaggeration, in the Pflugerville area (at least my area).<snip> It has never been that bad.

Hunted in Liberty Hill and didn't shoot a single bird in two hunts. Guys on nearby properties sure were blasting away though.

We are hunting in Winnie with Jimmy West this Saturday. He said their opening day hunt had a decent amount of birds. Some limits for those who could shoot and 8 to 10 birds for those that were less proficient with the gun.

Jimmy has a fishing & hunting guide service. He does day dove hunts. I have did unguided duck hunts & day dove hunts with him. He has always been honest with me on what to expect .

Whitewing season down south in Jim Wells county, we have an unreal amount of mourning dove coming in. Not many whitewing, we had more 2 weeks ago, and the ones we saw where flying alone or mixed with mourning dove and not in big flocks of other whitewings. We also shot about 20 Eurasians between 3 of us.

I was told the doves are crazy in Alice right now. I didn't ask about mourning/WW.

I'll be at my place for 3 days this week. Hoping to have a decent WW hunt Saturday

I'm scheduled to be near Alice on Saturday for WW opener. Outfitter said the same. Lots of mourning but no white wing. We may have to reschedule.
