I have no experience with Franklin's BBQ but his name pops up in the BBQ circles. He must be doing something right. A good pit is essential and apparently his works for him. I don't think the price is out of line for a proven design. Beleive it or not if you haven't built a pit they do require alot of work.

There aren’t enough details there, but Franklin cooks on 1000 gallon offsets at his restaurant. He also builds them with very large (actually the proper size) fire boxes. I can weld/fabricate very well, but for $2400 for a 1000 gallon like he cooks on, I’d **** sure pay it. There are people on here trying to sell little tiny rusty old back porch pits on cobbled up junk trailers for almost the same price.

I doubt very seriously, his pits for $2,400 will be 1000 gallon tanks.

I'm betting they'll be the back porch size with a 20-24" cooking area.

Article says 6ft long smoker...so, I’d guess 500 gallon? Not a bad price.

Said 6’ long and enough for three briskets. Bet the length they’re referring to is total length and not just the cook chamber

like everything else....paying 50% for the name alone.

If he’s using heavy steel and really welding everything by hand $2,400 doesn’t seem out of line.

I bet they're less than 100 gal cooking barrel. 24"diax48"long at the most. Additional 24" firebox.

Agree with this.^^^^^^ Says it will cook 3 briskets at a time. A 6ft cooking area would cook a lot more than three at a time.

Looks like a 4’ cooking area and a 2’ box. Nice looking pit. Those wheels are gonna sink fast in the grass. Better keep it on concrete.
