    Spinning rod setup

Bass fishing this weekend. Going to be throwing under docks and cover a lot.

Never owned a spinning reel setup. Is there anything y'all recommend for under $200 for the complete setup?

I hate spinning reels! There. I said it!

Why do you want to use a spinning reel for bass? Why not a casting reel?

      Man, almost any of them.

A Shimano Nasci, Daiwa BG, Abu Revo 2500 series reel. And stick it to a 7' Medium rod Falcon, Allstar, abu, etc. And you are good to go.

Lots of good combos under that price.

I threw a casting reel since I was 4 years old. I have switched to all spinning the last few years. Don't have to worry about wind, light baits, etc. And the bigger crank is easier on my beat up hands.

A lot of good setups for under 200 but I do not care for spinning gear. I only have one spinning setup and that's for crappies or anything finesse. If you are going to be throwing into heavy cover, I highly recommend a casting setup. Also depends on the lures you are throwing. I have a specific setup for specific type of fishing (swimbaits, cranking, fishing over cover, in deep cover, etc)

You don't want to go with anything under 7' though. I'm not sure how experienced you are but I wouldn't drop 200 on a spinning reel setup right away. Just go with something that will get the job done and get a feel for it. You can get a decent setup for around 50 to 80 dollars.

When you get set up always close the bail manually instead of with the handle after you cast. This will drastically cut down line twist issues. Go get some 3/16 oz shaky heads and some zoom finesse worms and throw them under the docks when the sun is high and catch them all.

If you're going to skip the docks, to get under them, I'd go with a 5' pole.

I'd just go with an Ugly stick and a Quantum Optix 20 Spinning Reel

My dock/ dropshot rig is a 5'6" medium heavy rod with a wide spool 15lb line class reel. Shorter rod makes slinging under docks easier in my opinion, wide spool gets them out quicker
