    Laptop Docking Station Question(s)

At work I dock my Toshiba laptop using a Thunderbolt 3 dock. My wireless mouse and keyboard dongles are plugged directly into the dock as well as the monitor cables. Just one cable goes from laptop to dock supplying power to the laptop and pulling all data/images from the laptop so I can work with the laptop closed. I want to be able to start docking at home so I had the office order me an identical dock, the issue I have is finding a way to use my existing keyboard and mouse when using the laptop at home. Right now I have the dock hooked up to my monitor via HDMI at home and when I dock the laptop I have to change the auxiliary input on the monitor to HDMI 1 and it simply mirrors my laptop screen, thus I have to physically work on the laptop. Can I somehow run the laptop through my existing PC so that I can use my current mouse/keyboard and essentially work off the laptop while acting like I’m working on the home desktop? If so, do I just run the HDMI from dock to PC, or is there another way of doing that? Hopefully this makes sense and wasn’t too much rambling, typed from my phone in bed.

You can run team viewer and work a different computer from your home computer. I am unfortunately my families free IT department, so I have to do it all the time. Sister is in Wyoming and I work on hers from Texas.
It can be a little laggy, depending on your connection speed, but it would have to be a pretty slow connection on one of the PC's.

Above but why not just buy cheap wired or wireless key board and mouse.

This is what I was thinking. I'd get a key board and mouse to leave at home and set it up exactly like its set up at work. Move the laptop between docking stations and you're done.

That’s what I’ll end up doing. Was hoping I could run it through the PC but if that’s not an option I’ll just add another wireless keyboard mouse for the pull-out drawer under the desk and leave the dongle in the docking station. Going to be tedious having to change the input on monitor every time but oh well.
