Average cost of Lasik Eye Surgery

Wife mentioned Lasik the other day. She has been a lifelong glasses/contact wearer. She is blind! (can't make out faces at 12 feet without glasses). Wanting to surprise her but don't have 10k to do it. What is the real cost. I have heard the 250/per eye commercials but I know better. What is realistic? What is normal recovery time? Probably not going to be covered by insurance.

2500-3500 for the newest technology and that’s for both eyes. The $250 per eye is the older technology. She will have to go in and do all the test and then they will determine if lasik is right for her.

Mine was almost 5k, that's with a life time warranty

It's been 20 years since I had mine done, but I went with the doctor with the best reputation.

I paid whatever he wanted to charge me.

I think back then it was 4 grand.

My wife just had hers done 2 weeks ago and it was $3250.

Had my consultation today with all appointments and post visits $3800 for both eyes

My insurance will cover about $800 of it

Mine was $4200 for both eyes back in ‘07. It it about time to get back in for a “tune up” I think. Have to wear readers for small print and unless there is good contrast, lots of menus are hard to read. Best money I ever spent!
