Thank You LEO, EMS, and all First Responders

I witnessed a horrible accident last night where a gentleman was ejected suffering major head trauma. I was second person to him and knew he was bad off. As a former volunteer fireman for 10+ years I have seen this too many times and hope to never see it again. For all those who's job it is to witness this daily I wanted to say GOD BLESS YOU and THANK YOU! Hit me hard emotionally when I got home knowing he most likely was not going to make it, I hate seeing death taking over a body.

Found out this morning he didn't even make it to the hospital before succumbing to his injuries. Pray for his friends and family, God knows who they are.

I worked several bad ones when I was on the street many years ago. May be the reason I didn't let many violators slide. THE one that is burned in my mind was where a front passenger's head hit the windshield and it cut his throat on the glass. Very hard to forget!

The bad ones do not seem to happen as much as they did when i first started mostly because the growth around here came with a lot more stop lights. I always hate knowing that an officer is about to deliver some life changing news to someone.

That’s the worst part of our job, and something that those of us that do it every day would like to forget. But I think I can speak for all the first responders on here when I say the good FAR outweighs the bad. I’ve got the best job in the world!!

We had a bad one Tuesday night. Truck fire on interstate that had traffic backed up. Someone wasn't paying attention and we all of a sudden have 2 scenes. 3 people lost their lives and Air Evac picked up 2 more, that probably didn't make it.

Ran two codes today. Neither made it. 30's and 90's. ER life.

Those of us in this line of work, will develop a few ghosts at some point. I live with two that haunt me regularly that I will never forget. Just gotta keep doing what you're doing and take care of who you can.

The ghosts seem to be worse when you know their names. Mine was Kayla. She was 3 when she died in October of 2000.
