will be used from a 'mother ship'. 1500$ spending limit. I'm 6'2" 220lbs back bay/marsh. I have 2 bay boats, so it will only be used a few times/yr

Look for used tarpon 120. Can get one way under that price and use the extra money for a good paddle

I fished a lot of back bays and shallow waters in a tarpon 120. It will be hard to stand in one if you want to do that. If so look into a ws ride instead

I fish out an Old Town Predator 13. I’m 5’10” 240 and I can stand and fish with ease. Great sight casting kayak. Very stable in wind and waves and tracks tremendously well for being so big and wide. Seat is super comfortable so long trips are not a problem. Had a Jackson coosa HD before this one that was just as stable. Just wasn’t as good with tracking

Best standing and most stable kayaks are the predator, coosa, Diablo adios or amigo, and pretty much all Hobie fishing kayaks

Been using the same two Pelican 120’s for 10 years, they were cheap but been really great little boats. Never had anything better so I don’t know what I’m missing.

lots and lots of good kayaks these days.. you can find some good deals in your price range add feel free lure, and bonafide to the list that txoutdoorsman made there... Make a run to Austin kayak or mariner and go try some out. Look on texaskayakfisherman.com under classifieds and https://www.facebook.com/groups/Texa.../forsaleposts/ for some deals.

This is a good idea. But I'd go 14. So you don't get left behind by friends that have better tracking kayaks.
