    AC question

Went up in th attic and found dried up green and white residue in the drip pan. I don't know much about AC or furnace units... Do I need to have someone come out?

    Pics.

Unit only a few years old. Filters changed every 4 to 6 months.

I wouldn’t worry about that, but while your messing with it I’d make sure your pan drain lines aren’t plugged up and flowing good, pour a little bleach down the pipe to kill any algae that would plug it up or blow some air through it. Also I would change filters every 1-2 months.

Looks fine to me. The green is from condensation on the copper suction/low side pipe where it goes into the air handler. The white is calcium from dried condensation.

I'm no AC guy but I believe the green is from the copper.

Green spot is from condensation forming on the suction line and dripping into pan. Other spot is the same thing, but coming off the primary drain line, which should be insulated. Neither are really a great big deal, and both can be easily fixed with some pipe insulation and duct tape.

Condensation is usually not a problem on sch 40 pvc pipe. When I have seen it being an issue is when the humidity is very high. If the drain line has any sweat on it, insulate a few feet and it will be ok.

Looks beautiful, nothing to worry about there. As was said, be diligent about making sure that line stays clear, total nightmare when it overflows.
