    Gooseneck...Ram 3500

2017 Ram 3500.... I was gonna pick the bed up and weld a hitch to the frame, but apparently the metal alloys in the frame are different these days? It appears guys are bolting them to the frame?

Yep, bolts to the frame with the rails. The the hitch sets on the rails and locks in place with some pins so u can slide it front r back depending on where the trailer sets

      Wouldn't that be a 5th wheel hitch?

I ain't saying that Ram 3500's don't have a sliding goose, I've just never seen one.

All the geese I've seen have had the ball at bed level.

        Gooseneck, not 5th wheel
I want to install gooseneck with the ball

Gosh that is so old school and not necessary. They have hitches made specifically for that truck that bolt in real easy.

I wish you would have posted a couple months ago. I bought this bed at an auction(color even matched mine) and the hitch went for $5 because no one wanted it. I would have grabbed it for you.

Get a B&W that is made for it, turn over ball, pretty easy to install and direct fit so no monkeying around.

With the rails you pull 4 pins and gooseneck hitch comes out. My 5th wheel hitch can be installed with the same 4 pins. Works pretty good.

Reese makes another good hitch for it. I had that on my 2015 Ram 2500

Toy trucks come with wimpy frames and coil springs

I installed the B&W on mine. $400 for the hitch install took a couple hours going’s slow. Very straightforward just a little snug getting the plates lined up so all bolts went in easily. Worst part was drilling a hole in the bed of a brand new truck.

I came to terms with my salesman on a 2500 megacab then before signing papers I asked for a B&W turnover. It’s awesome, I like being able to get the ball out of the way and having access to the entire bed. If you by chance have a megacab, get the extended ball so you limit the likelihood of striking your cab on tight turns.

I get that this is in jest, but the 3500 doesn’t have coils. Only the 2500s do. (I can’t believe I actually just defended a RAM )

I 2nd this. I have had 2 B&W turnover balls and now the factory gooseneck and the B&W is much better IMO
