Because Mad Jack's Mountaintop BBQ is way better BBQ than anything you'll find in El Paso. He's originally from from the Central Tx BBQ area.
It's a nice drive and much cooler up there as well

I would do L&Js if there, maybe Forte's Mexican Elder too. If I had a weekend, I'd want to get a steak at Cattleman's as well. Franklin Mountains would be a good way to kill some time. You could hit up White Sands.

I've worked in El Paso many times, and personally I like the place!

They got some awesome teal and dove hunting down by the river outside of town
Lots of cool old places to see and eat , hot springs and a great steak house
El Paso isn’t a bad place to be

If you are a Marty Robbins fan definitely stop in at Rosa's Cantina!

That's what I thought. Nice town. Low crime. No humidity. Mornings and evenings are much cooler than over here.

Most of these have been mentioned already.

Cattlemans Steakhouse is a must. Thirty minute drive from downtown EP. One of the top steak houses in country.
L and J café, Corralitos, Las Palmas, Julios, all good Mexican food.
                      Chopes is worth the drive.
Desert Oak BBQ is very good....about the only good BBQ in town.
Catch a baseball game. Guadalupe mountains are not a far drive. Whites Sands is pretty neat on a full moon. Ruidoso is a 2 hour drive. Also a horse track with a casino in Sunland Park.
Grab a beer at Smokeys on a Wed afternoon....thank me later.

More likely to get robbed, raped, mugged, and have car stolen in your area than EP.

El Paso is a pretty safe city.

Apparently you can run for senate and lose and then hope to win the presidency!

Watch the trannys run across I-10 every evening trying not to get hit.

                                Chicos Tacos (EP tradition)
Carlsbad caverns (you could do it in a day drive)
                                Elk hunt in ruidoso
Viva El Paso (not sure if they are still doing shows up in the mountains)
                                Race track and casino
New Mexico is super close. Lots of little towns to check out
                                White sands
Dont go to Walmart (too soon?)
