Somehow or another I ended up with a racquet ball racket back in the early 80’s when I was little. Used to mess with wasps and get them riled up and then see how many I could knock to the ground. Yes, young and dumb probably describes a lot of us growing up. [emoji846]

Got popped in the back of my head by a guinea wasp yesterday walking out of my shop. As far as the real yellow jackets I dug some of those up with a front end loader once, them little bastages hurt for a couple of days.

Goodness, you got it bad. Mine swole up some but nothing like that. I did more damage to myself than they did to me - tore a gash in my back with my release trying to kill the ones that flew up my shirt haha.

We used to shoot paper wasp nest with a bb gun when were kids. My mom had an apple tree in the backyard and it attracted wasps like crazy. I shot one down and it fell on my brother once. He got stung behind the ear and I started laughin. He picked an apple up off the ground and hit my right in the throat with it. I stopped laughin pretty quick.

The good news is that they don't have a six foot wingspan to go along with the attitude.

It however amazes me that a website community that is so dedicated to the outdoors has so many members that can’t identify the difference between yellow jackets and Guinnea wasps and paper wasps. Yellow jackets do not build nests under boat covers or under the eaves of your house or in hedge bushes. They build a hive in the ground. They are more closely related to bees than wasps. They also attack very differently.
OK I’ll get off my soap box now.
This shouldn't be surprising, most guys on here can't identify the 4 venomous snakes in Texas and kill all snakes 'just in case'.

Just bought 2 cans of spray that say 27feet. I have a good size nest under my 2 story roof so need to reach out and get them.

Popping a squat in the woods and seeing them come pouring out of a hole in the ground you didnt see in mid push is the worst.
