    Cooper vs Hankook

For the last 3 or 4 years I have ran Cooper Discoverer tires on my 2012 Dodge. I only drive highway miles but pull a trailer every day. A set of tires usually lasts me a year. This year I have been through 2 sets of tires with really no increase in miles driven. I know the Hankook tires are more expensive than the Cooper but if the Hankook tires last longer then the price would be worth it. I am looking for opinions from those of you that have used these brand of tires

Aren't tires across all brands required by law to last a certain amount of time? Heard that somewhere, but not entirely sure of the validity.

      Try BFG a/t DT’s
They are different type of rubber compounds made for longer mileage
Cooper has a marketing deal with Walmart “ and I don’t trust Walmart to market any type of quality “

And what type of cooper are you running, streets, a/t, m/t ?

I just put Hankook MTs on my F350 Ford crew cab. I ran Coopers ATs for 60K miles on the previous set but wanted something a little more aggressive. It was my finding at Discount Tire that the Hankooks were actually cheaper than the Coopers. I decided to give the Hankooks a shot after many favorable comments on TBH and other forums about them. I don't think you can go wrong with either.

Here is a TBH thread.....I'd imagine you'd get the same replies for the ATs as the MTs in this link.

In my experience, tire threads will only make you more unsure of your decision than you were before you asked.

I'm a toyo guy though, I have gotten up to 40k out of the MT on diesel pickups that see goosenecks at least a few days a week. I may switch to the RT or the AT2 on the next set since I'm not in blackland country anymore

I have run both Hankook and Cooper in the MT pattern and the Cooper were hands down better. Handled better and lasted longer.

LMAO....So now we have Coopers as Walmart deal type tires and Hankooks as bad tires with other TBHers singing their praises on other threads.... TBH never fails to deliver..

You might also consider the Nitto Dura Grapplers. They are considered a long life highway service tire.

The Dura Grappler highway terrain tire is perfect for those who spend a lot of time behind the wheel. Engineered for on-road comfort and longevity.

On our fleet pickups which is probably 50/50 highway and caliche Cooper and hankook are the only two we’ll allow buying. Two best brands going.

Discount is making their own tire off a Cooper mold called pathfinder I think. We’re testing some and they are working well.

Hey just because you run whatever fits on spinners doesn’t mean you bash our tires!

I put a solid 60 or 70k on my last set of hankook a/t im on my second set now. The price is hard to beat for what you get. My old man thinks if it doesnt say bfg it must be junk but I like them

I’m I running Hankook Dynapro ATM’s and have had three sets. They are great tires. I abuse them and they have held up well. Key to them is scheduled rotation.

I have some friends up here in the tire business and they sell a lot of tires to guys working in the oilfield that are pulling heavy trailers a lot off pavement. They tell me by far the most popular tire they sell is the Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx.
I trust what they tell me and since hearing that have been noticing more what these guys are running for tires and they are right. I see far more of the ST Maxx than any other brand.
A set will be going on my F350 this fall before hunting season.

My son in law has Pathfinders on his truck now. Definitely worth looking at IMO. He loves them.
