I shot the Monster at bow zone yesterday. It was set up with a whisker bisket(how much does that hurt the FPS), 29 inch draw w/loop. We weighed the arrow at 386. It was set at 61.5 lbs. It clocked consistantly at 303. Feel was good to me. But I have to wait and shoot the xlr8 before I can make a decision.

The bow had a 70#/29" sticker on the lower limb, and my 30" arrow drew back to the drop away rest. I don't know how they did it, or if it was supposed to adjust +2 or +3 inches.

It wasn't close to 32" draw length or I would own one. The usually run about 1/4" over listed draw length when axle-axle and cam rotation or spot on. The are listed as 30" maximum, so it might have been 30.25". If you find one thats 32" then tell them I want it.

It looks freaking sweet, but I still prefer the functionality of the solo-cam. I just dont know if it would be worth having to deal with the timing of the dual cams. That bow sure is dang fast though!!

Ya'll send me one of each bh 70lbs @ 29" , and I'll test em for you and report my results in a couple of years.

I called the shop, they changed the module on the cams and it was 30". He said my arrow was about 1" longer than where the rest was contacting it, close to the front of the riser. He said I was having such a had time getting the cams to come over at 70# and then having them come out of the valley at full draw since it was not set up for me but a guy with much longer arms, I did not see it correctly. I stand corrected.

                  29" bow with the 30" modules, 70#
                  395 grains- 310 fps
                  500 grains- 280 fps

Based on that, with a 350 grain arrow it would have shot around 340 fps. Add the peep sight and D loop weight and it would be faster.

If I 'won' one, I'd shoot it

That is the problem with the quest for speed and top dog honors. You don't get a free ride. You have to put more energy into the bow than you will get out of it. So that increased speed/kinetic energy comes with a price of harsher draw cycle. Most guys will buy them and shoot them thru the chronograph for bragging rights, then turn them down as low as they will go, so they can shoot them comfortably. Net effect is they'll be right back around the same speed/energy they could have shot with a smoother single cam bow. I've heard it more than once that the X-force comes out of the box and is set close to 80#'s. The truth is that initial break-over is a bear.

If you can figure out how to build a bow and get more energy out than you put into it, there is a Nobel prize with your name on it. You'll have destroyed the 2nd law of Thermodynamics.

Did you see what the shop owner told me about speed?

I did also shoot the 35" Hoyt Alphatec and while it was not a 'speed screamer', it drew nicely and was very comfortable to shoot.

I shot a Monster set at 60# 29" draw and was not very impressed with the bow.....it is top heavy...even rigged out its top heavy and almost needs to be torqued to hold it level while shooting.
The shot was smooth but the brace height was not for me.....hit my arm every time. I like the looks of it cosmetically but the sheer weight of the rigged out bow is not very desirable.
The Monster has the speed as advertised and for Mathews first 2 cam bow looks good but unproven in the longevity department with several having problems so far.
I hope the xlr8r is better because this one is lacking IMO......needs to be a bit lighter and balanced better for me to consider one........the cam/yoke system looks like a nightmare to tune but that just my opinion.
Over all for the Mathews die-hard "Members" I would imagine this is what they have wanted in the speed department. I just think it goes against what Mathews has always uniquely claimed and had to do to compete in the current market......but its a "Mcpherson" not a Mathews

Just my .02 and not bashing......I like Mathews and will always keep up with whats new possibly shooting another one one day.....but the current new line of Mathews is less than desirable for me. I do miss my Switchback........but haven't seen anything from them I would own since then.
FTR.......the Monster here in San Angelo has not sold yet.....not one....but the Reezen has sold a few here!
