    Wireless Access Points

My house is fully wired with ethernet. I'm looking for wifi access points that will connect by ethernet and repeat my network. I tried a Netgear device that connected to my network but it transmitted a different network name. So if my laptop was connected to one network wirelessly and my printer was connected to the other network wirelessly they would not talk to each other. If it's not already apparent this technology left me in the dust long ago.

I have a ubiquity WAP and it does the same thing. Puts out a different network name but is hardwired back to router. I’d love to just have an WiFi booster but it came pre wired with the house. I’d maybe look into WiFi boosters instead of WAP

My dad has a pretty large house and was having issues getting his WiFi throughout. At first he added a second network but that ended up being more of a hassle. He’s now running the Google Mesh system and it’s been working great. I’m not sure if this is what your needing but that’s what it sounded like to me.

Use multiple access points. Engenius are reasonable. Set up the IP #s so that they are in the same range. As long as your only using 1 router, access points on the same IP range hard wired back to the router they will be able to talk to each other. My guess is that Netgear was a router too and the 2 competed against each other with possibly different IP ranges. An extender is another option as long as you set it up in a area that has fair signal. Bad signal and the extender can't do its job. A mesh wifi is another really good option. Works like a big wireless network we have at school. Its a little pricy but works well. All the APs will be under the same SSID

Get the entry level Orbi system, put router where its convenient and the satellites at the "extremes" you want coverage. Will all be the same network name and your devices will for the most part gracefully hand off in a transparent manner.

Just use a second router(with access point capability) but go into configuration and change it to become an access point instead. You will not connect the LAN cable to the WAN port.

Search online with keywords "router as access point"

                This is where I landed.

It seems to be working well so far. I failed to mention in the original post I need wireless connection in my shop which is a metal building. My phone and laptop transfer seamlessly. Need to get another one to cover some weak areas in the house. Around $45 on Amazon.
