    driveway alarm multi sensor system

Howdy folks, Time to put the mass brainpower to work. I'm trying to figure out an driveway alarm and it's mind boggling. My drive is about 1500 feet and has a gate, a cattle guard with gate and a cattle guard on it. the cattle guard only is the one to the yard around the house. IMO it's too close to put an alarm on.

I worry about using a motion detector sensor in that I'll get lots of false alarms. Mass sensors don't seem to have enough range to put where I want them.

Is there a motion system that uses 2 detectors that both need to be triggered in order for an alarm to sound? The road between the gated cattle guard and the entrance is fenced on both sides and wooded on both sides also. It's an ideal place to put detectors but critters also tend to walk along it. if I spaced 2 alarms 400 feet apart I doubt I'd get a critter going that distance.

The other option would be use a single motion sensor mounted facing the woods on the gate/cattle guard. Nothing crosses the cattle guard that I've seen but will the wooded area cause false alarms?

Anyone know of anything? I searched old threads but didn't find my answers. thanks

Mounted about 3 ft off the ground, shooting straight across your driveway, I don't think you would get many false alarms, if any. Leaves, etc..shouldn't trigger it if that's what you mean by WOODS.
You can always go the weight sensor route. They even have these in wireless models nowadays.

I may be mistaken, but I think there may be a driveway alarm that uses heat (heat of engine) and not motion to trigger. Might still get some false alarms from large animals but not leaves, etc.

Yes they do, heat and motion.

what I mean by woods is woods. not my definition. its what everyone in the area calls them. The Kosse Woods. Actually its more like Kosse Wooooooods.

According to this, an infrared system may be what you you should be searching for:

Infrared Driveway Sensors. These sensors are wireless and use heat to detect movement (people, animals or vehicles) by sending a signal whenever a warm object passes through the beam. The biggest advantage of infrared sensors is that they’re easy to install and are not expensive.

Dakota alert driveway alarm is what I use. I put the sensor in the middle of the cattle guard about 300 yards plus from the house. I mounted it about 3 ft up and pointed slightly down. That way the PIR wont get many false trips. Works great.

I bought some of the Guardline Driveway Alarms like these and they have worked great for over a year. Mine are the brown ones, advertised to reach 500'. The furthest distance I have one set from the base is 145 yards on a feeder behind my house. When it goes off we are alerted to check for deer. I have r motion detectors set around my property, with different sounds set up for each one. When one goes off, we know which one it was and where it is located. I haven't even changed the batteries in them yet.

I know several people who are using the game cams that send photos and messages to your phone.
