    Fulshear

We are looking to relocate in the Houston area (we already live in NE Houston and Houston is home for us). I would like to be closer to work and my wife wants somewhere that has some "niceties" like HEB, Target, etc without living in a concrete jungle on top of one another. Fulshear seems like it fits the bill and appears to be a good area. I am curious on peoples experience living there and what the commute in on Westpark Tollway is like. I office next to Williams Tower in the Galleria so I would travel basically all the way in on Westpark to 610. We also fish in POC so it would cut over an hour each way in the drive down to POC which I can get behind.

We particularly like Weston Lakes and Fulbrook Estates but also interested in hearing about other areas. We don't know too much about the area but are going to drive around this weekend to get a better feel.

Fulshear is nice, your subdivisions are nice. Your commute to the Galleria area is going to suck unless you live there. Back way out of town to POCO so you’re not fighting 59, but many have learned the back way the last few years.

Thanks for the info. My commute right now is an hour and twenty minutes so I’m just looking to trim that down, not trying to get in too close though.

Awesome area, only drawback is 1093 (westpark) traffic will wear you out starting from 3:00 to 7:00.

They are building like crazy in Fulshear right now. New neighborhoods going in everywhere.

I don't believe they have any big stores out that way yet though so you'd have to drive back towards Katy to find those.

The Westpark Tollway is just like I-10 every time that I have been on it. It's not fast but it will get you there.

Perfect side of town. I would stay away from 59 north area. Traffic bad ,meth and headlighting

Looks like most of the big stores are 5-10 miles from town which for us is pretty close. HEB has land in Fulshear and is evaluating building a new HEB anchored center here shortly.

Looking at some heat maps it seems like the commute/traffic is pretty time dependent. Before 6:45 it looks like it’s a good drive.

I’m in between Crosby and Huffman now. I really like the idea of Fulshear but like I said I’m not really familiar with it.

There are some good plans for the Fulshear area coming over the next few years. The road construction is a pain now, but should be awesome once completed. We bought in Fulbrook and are currently building. Small town feel, but still has some of the "necessities". Our primary reason for moving is schools, but we are excited about having some more elbow room and getting out of the concrete jungle we are in now at beltway 8 & I10.

I'm blown away at Fulshear. I grew up there back in 70's and 80's and all we had was a blinking light, a meat market, bbq, dentist and gas station. I could barely find our old property has it has all been subdivided. Heck we only had 2 HS of which I was the second graduating class of Terry.

That kind of our assessment of the area as well. Are you in Fulbrook on Fulshear Creek or Fulbrook? We have a 1 y/o so the new elementary school will be built by the time he is ready for school and I have heard the junior high and high school are both very nice.

Im moving into a new home in Fulbrook in a couple weeks. If you get to the point you are seriously considering Fulbrook to build a home please hit me up and I can help navigate you through the process. It is very pricey to build there but there isnt another place like it in the area if you are looking for an acre plus and want a well maintained development. It is very quiet and relaxed there. Fulshear Im afraid is going to be part of the concrete jungle in very short order. It is just going to be more mono-culture like you see everywhere else.

Thanks for the offer. We are going to look at a house in the Reserve section of Weston this weekend and hopefully drive through Fulbrook and look at it as well. I really like the neighborhood feel with large lots, parks, and "community" center.

Oh man you're so right. We'd be up there for rodeos and the BBQ place was it. First time I went back was a year ago and I didn't recognize the place.

Once they finish the toll way from town it will be great I think. I head up that way when I'm going to FTU on I-10...grab Dozier's on the way up.
