    Ladder stand questions

Alright, I have the perfect tree, perfect stand sight, perfect for most winds that we have in the panhandle, but I have yet to find a hang on stand that is comfortable. The tree has too many bends in it and is really big around. The last two years I have sat it a bunch but its gets uncomfortable quick...so????

I am trying to see if I can get a ladder stand in there. What would yall recommend?

Height is not a big deal but probably at least 15', would like a larger shooting platform that goes to the base of the tree, flip up seat, and no rails so I can shoot sitting down if need be.

wouldnt mind it being under 75# either and possibilites to set up by myself. It will stay at this spot because it is private land

If you have a hang on stand that uses cable, take the cables off and replace with semi lightweight chain. This way you can adjust the stand to the bends of the tree by tightening or loosening the chains. You will need to use something to fasten the lengths together that can be taken off/on as needed. Use good old duct tape on the extra chain so it won't blow around and make noise hitting the stand when the wind blows.

If you have the perfect tree and all, I would look into the "Gametaimer" hang on stand. Look at www.gametamers.com and I think you will find that it will hang on most trees in your area. I don't think that I have a tree on my place that is staight and they work find for me.

If you go to a ladder stand, get a "buddy stand". Although it is hard to hunt 2 side by side, it gives a lot more room and you can take someone with you if you want. (just put them on your non-draw side).
Like almost any stand/blind, a comfortable seat is a must and set up and conceal as early as possible so the dear are used to something being there.

Here's an idea you might like. Buy an inexpensive ladder stand then bolt a swivel-type boat seat on the platform. Much more comfortable and safer than a tree stand IMO.
