    Thinking about fly lessons

I am looking into getting a private pilots license. I know there area few TBH flyers, so any good info on picking a school would be much appreciated. I want a school in the DFW area.

Used to work with a guy named Oscar Martinez who used to give lessons out of Addison. Was many years ago and not sure if he still does. I dont know about his flying/teaching skills but as a person he is a top notch individual. If his name pops up you should talk with him. Will see if I can contact him.

I used to have a private pilot's license. I let it go. Hope you have a fat wallet. Flying makes hunting look cheap.

Contact Learjetdriver - he's a corporate pilot and got his training for fixed wing and helicopter somewhere in the area. I'm sure he could point you in the right direction.

You are correct sir. From what I've checked on so far the license is going to run from $6500 to $7500...

Yeah, but getting the license it just the beginning. A license does you no good unless you're using it. I don't know what it runs to rent a Cessna these days. Of course, when you get where you're going you typically have to rent a car unless you just like hanging out at airports. While it was fun and I don't regret having done it, had I kept flying, it would have definitely affected my standard of living in other areas. If I gave up hunting and photography, I might could swing it!

Same here. My dad had a Piper Cherokee when I was in high school and my plan was to fly it to build some time. Unfortunately, after I got my license we found out the insurance to fly his plane would be outrageous. I didn't get many hours logged before I just gave up because of the cost of renting an airplane. I would not be surprised if a Cessna 152 would cost $150 an hour wet today.
