    Monarch Pass - Must Do's?

We are heading to Monarch Pass which is about 15 miles west of Salida tomorrow.

Anyone know of any special trails. places to eat, places to catch trout or things to do?

Finding hiking trails should be easy. I do need a place to catch a few trout. And places to eat.

Sorry, I’m not help, I only know where to get your chin stitched up when you fall on icy Monarch ski slopes

Watch the weather and lightning that may come up in the afternoons.
County fair going on in Salida, I would take a day or so an visit it. You can probably get a schedule online of what's going on there.

Amicas Pizza and Brewpub in Salida. We always stop there going to and from our Colorado hunt. They have a green Chile local beer that is really good with pizza.

Never stopped in monarch pass, if you make it to gunnison eat at the gunnisack that place is great. Also black canyon of the gunnison is an amazing place if you've never been there

Tin Cup Pass is a beautiful hiking trail up to the pass. Creek is good trout fishing and the beaver ponds up high were loaded with cutthroats. The biggest brown I ever caught was in town Salida in the little creek that runs through.

If you go by the camping area up there, take worms and you can eat brookies for breakfast lunch and dinner. The little feeder stream that emotues to tge ponds are full of them. Beautiful area. Have fun.
