    68A Inspection

Never been through this process before. Sitting in line. Might be a long day.

Found three chunks of a VIN number between welds on a bracket. Sure hope this thing wasn’t stolen.

So I did some investigating. Got all the way back to the guy who special ordered it and I’m convinced it isn’t stolen. Next step is to cut off the bracket and reveal as many numbers as possible then see if they can issue a VIN.

It’s a theft task force inspection to verify it isn’t stolen so I can apply for a title.

Its not really a task force. THe guys performing it may be assigned to one when they aren't doing 68As. At least that's how it is with the 6 or 8 auto theft guys I know across two counties.

The inspection is required by lots of counties and the State form is form "68A" hence the name. From stories Ive heard youre lucky you were able to leave the lot with the trailer

I had one done on a trailer I bought. It did not have a serial number on it, and did not have a makers name. When it got my turn he looked at it, asked where I got it, and took the expired registration from previous owner. Went and sat in his car for about 5 min and came back with completed form. It was really easy in my situation

The guy I’m dealing with has been very helpful.

Yup it’s for a trailer I bought on CL out of Oklahoma. The problem is Oklahoma doesn’t require registration or titles on trailers so chain of custody gets tricky.

Going to get to cutting the bracket off this morning and I bet it’ll all work out.
