    Which would be better?

As far as land clearing. I know it depends on type of trees and vegetation, but which would you prefer? Mulching, dozer, or an excavator that can pull selected trees out. This is more for like clearing roads or spots to hunt not necessarily completely clearing.

    Big excavator

I have never had this done but have thought about it as I need to do the same on my lease. I would think the mulcher would be best as you would have no bush piles or big trees laying around in your way. Probably depends on size of trees/brush also; my spot has small brush not many big trees.

I could see the bush piles as being good habitat for birds or small game also, but they would be in my way for shooting lanes where I lease.
You could also maybe use them as a pinch point for bowhunting setup also.

It's usually all about $$$. Clean and tidy is higher.

Dozer would be less work, but excavator if you don't have much to clear.

For roads or small clearings, I would go with a back hoe. This is what I used when I cleared my property lines. My FIL owned the back hoe. I would go ahead of him with the chainsaw and cut everything down at about waist high. He would pull everything cut, out with the hoe and put it on the fire. We burnt everything as we went. Then he would grub out all the under brush. Trees that I cut, would dig out the stumps. Then I came back thru with my tractor and smooth everything out. Since we got roots and all, I didn't have to worry about it growing back over in 3 or 4 years. Takes a little longer than piling up with a dozer, but we had no brush piles full of dirt to worry about either.
If you mulch, especially where I live, underbrush will just grow back within the year.

If you’re clearing resprouting species, excavator. Non-resprouters, dozer.

It would depend on what part of the state.

In the Hill Country I would try this guy, there are other posts on here about him. But he can knock the cedars down and use the mulch as a road base.

Looks like he does good work. We’re in the hill country but not quite that rocky. I bet it’s expensive to run that rock crusher.

That looks great, I would love to have this done on our lease.

Mix them up a bit, add a bit of fire in there too, different vegetation that will replace what you take out responds better to different methods.
