    Lake Somerville boat ramp fun

Oh man it was funny hanging around the boat ramp Saturday, for the little amount of time we did anyway.
If some people cant figure out how to launch a boat, I cringe at what they are like out on the water.....

This is one of my favorite things to do. Sit in the evening at a state park and watch the show at the boat ramps.

They should have a test for boat operators just like for car drivers

Bet just the launching part (getting boat ready, backing trailer, etc) would decrease the number of boats on lakes considerably

Would probably make the lakes safer as well

(I am being somewhat facetious but don't believe you have any more right to operate a boat than a car )

Ive heard it was back open and that it was 'tricky' cause some of overlook is still under water. Of course, that ramp is tricky to some even when the lake aint high.

How is it from someone thats not blind in one eye and cant see from the other? I may have to slide up next week for some crappie

I concur. Im pretty sure Ive seen divorces at the ramp. But Ive also seen my wife make grown men blush when she backs the trailer straight as an arrow while they look like a snake going down the ramp

my favorite is the guy who tells his wife to back the boat it. She has never backed anything in her life. Then he stands in the boat and screams at her the whole time she is trying to back it in.

Sounds like what they do for fun in Port O'Connor. There is a bar over looking the boat ramp and people set out on the deck and heckle people sometimes. It can make even experienced operator nervous the first time.

And for that reason I will NEVER ask my wife to back a boat trailer down a ramp.

Yep, that was me this weekend on LL. LOL
All she had to do was back it up 20 ft straight. SMH

its worth letting her learn. Once she gets proficient, dudes at the ramp will sigh an roll their eyes thinking, great a chick backing the boat. When the transom hits the water faster than most guys theyll tell ya that youve got her trained right

I should clarify that, we won’t be learning on a boat ramp. Trained prior to putting it in the water is what I meant.

I had to help one guy out...I just couldnt stand it any longer...

He backed the trailer for her then got in the boat, but she wouldnt get the tires wet...he was trying to rock the boat off the trailer...26' V hull....I was laughing out loud....

After 30 mins I went and helped him out, 2WD chevy 1500 pulling that big *** boat...He got in and gave me a thumbs up and I backed her down and he floated off, took about 7 seconds...the back tires were almost submerged....
The look on her face was awesome...she was in amazement

                            Just Overlook boat ramp....

You have to go through the campground to get to it,,the main road is still under water....but it is open.

But you have to back down pretty far to get your boat floating...they make you sign a waiver also..

I think I will go when it is a little more safe. I don't want to sign a waiver then find out part of the ramp is missing under there and splish splash I am in the drink, boat, trailer, truck and all.
