    Question for tractor owners

Did you put ballast in the rear tires?

What did you use... beet juice, anti freeze, washer fluid ,,,

Did you DIY, or let a dealer do it?

I have a new JD 3038, mainly for mowing, but I use the front loader alot. Been doing research on ballast, but don’t want to pay $300.00 to the dealer, if’n I can do it myself.

Do the benefits justify the cost?

Dealer did mine when he put the loader on. I think it’s water and antifreeze, but I could be wrong.

        Question for tractor owners

Did your traction improve a good amount ?

I have soft sand, and occasionally have to hit the diff. Lock, mainly when turning.

Absolutely! One I did the other the dealer did. We don’t get cold enough weather here to worry about freezing so just water and leak prevention stuff.

Helps traction lots doing loader work and really helps keep the back down when lift stuff with the FIL

I use water with antifreeze. Also added wheel weights.

I'm in East Tex lots of sand, big difference using the loader to stack round bales two high on trailer. I use diff lock with box blade mostly and brake right or left for turning.

Don’t pay the dealer, just buy the air-water adapter at tractor supply like mentioned above. No need to worry about freezing down here. Just spin the tire until the valve stem is at 2 o’clock and filler up, that will leave enough room for expansion if any freezing does occur

My JD dealer told me they always fill the rear tires with water/antifreeze when they put a FEL on a new tractor.

I have had my 46hp Kubota for a few years now...and I need it to do more, especially when using the FEL. My neighbor has a 35 horse that will outwork mine...I’m thinking I need the water and antifreeze.

I bought a new compact JD a few months back and put slime in the tires, I shred a lot of mesquite. When I jacked it up and let the air out, both rear tires lost their bead seal and had a time getting them seated again, just so you are prepared if doing it yourself.

I use antifreeze and water at work when customers want it installed in tires, we use the antifreeze to help with corrosion and rust with the wheels.

Two inch ratchet strap around the muddle if the tire will get it to bead quickly. Just be sure and careful to loosen as you inflate or the strap will pop and the ratchet will go flying like a bullet.
