    Anybody have coturnix quail?

So hatched some quail at home, had 5 make it out of 15 (7 were fertile after 10 days, two guys didnt make it out of the shell). Figured my odds of getting at least one male should be good, but seems I have all females. Great for eggs but wondering if anyone nearish to Houston has any male quail?

I've considered raising them at our ranch. How involved does one need to be? Could you raise them in an outside pen if you built it with a top, provided shade, water and an automatic feeder?

Yes sir. They will not survive in the wild on their own though.

Yes. I'd build a chicken wire pen to "house" them. Keep the varmints and hawks out.
Just can't be there all the time.

Extremely involved. You need a surrogator. You need heat, water and food.

Feed and water can be done automatically. Heat is fairly simple as well. I will read up. This is something my ranch partners and I want to move forward on.
