    Kimber or Glock

For all intents and purposes this is my first post although I have been sitting around the fire here quietly for quite some time now. Anyway I am looking to buy a good pistol and think I have it narrowed down to a Glock 30 .45 or a Kimber same calibur. Any owners of either out there that have a review or opinion either way.

Two completely different weapons. The Glock 30 is a subcompact .45ACP. Its small and light...

The Kimber's are super sweet weapons, well balanced and built like no one's business. Additionally they have a steep price tag.

The Springfield XD's are a similiar gun in action to the Kimbers and might be something you want to look at. Anyway, if I had to choose one, I would have to consider if i wanted it to be a carry weapon or home defense/target pistol...

both are very good guns... Kimber is twice the cost, and not twice the gun...

glock 30 is great, but for carry gun look at the G36 it is a bit smaller in the hand (thinner grip)

If I had to choose one that was going to be my only pistol I'd go with the Glock. If you have other pistols that you are comfortable with, go with the Kimber. You may also take a look at the XDs. I just bought one (thanks cbrown) and I'm really impressed.

          Javi-

Joey and I just picked up twin 36s and they are SUPER sweet. I love this single stack. Hopefully theyll make a .40 in single stack next year, I'd like to add one of those to the family.

That's really an apples and oranges comparison. For this you have to get some hands on time with several and see what you like.

glock because it goes bang every time you pull the trigger.

This would be a concealed carry weapon. My Brother-in-law has a Kimber and it is comparative in size to the glock 30 but the price was steep from what he told me....$200 to $300 dollar difference.

Ive got a G36 strapped to my hip at this very moment. Great gun.

Ive also got a Kimber 1911 carry gun that Chrisgunguy fixed up for me. Im pretty much indifferent between them but lately have been packing the glock.

If you want a concealed weapon, I would go with a glock 36 in the 45acp caliber. its a 6 round single stack 45. The 30 is a double stack 45acp. Its a heavier and bit bulker.

You really cant go wrong with the 30 though, its a fantastic weapon. I'd go to a shop, pick up a 36 and 30 see what you think. Additionally, you could check out a G27 which is the subcompact .40caliber version, 9round doublestack. They dont make a .40 caliber single stack yet.

Anyway, G30 & G36 are fantastic carry weapons. (and I carry or have carried both)

Personally You couldn't give me a Glock.... I'd sell it or trade it the same day, I have a Kimber Carry II and love it, I also have an Ithaca 1911 (WWII vintage) A Para BigHawg.... If You want a 45, go with a 1911 design, I've NEVER had a jam in a Kimber or a Para, those that do usually have limp wrists......

I have a 1911 I inherrited from my Father. Great gun, never had a jam or malfunction with it. A little big to carry though. Lo oking for something a bit smaller to conceal.

I don't have that problem, I used to carry a Ruger P-90 in 45.... I'm a little on the large side

A Carry II or Para also has a 7 shot 3 incher coming out that looks very promising.....

I have plenty of fancy and high dollar pistols. When there might be work to be done and I have to rely on something to function I go to my Glocks everytime. They are my workhorses.

The only pistols that I've ever had that went bang every single time I've pulled the trigger are my Glocks. That is essential in my opinion in a carry weapon.

I have one of each, G35 and Kimber Target. If you want a CCW, Glock of the two.
