    Insurance rant and...

Back on May 5th I was involved in an accident in my new F250- hit from behind. The second car behind me hit the car just behind me, knocked that car out of the way and then hit the corner of my rear bumper. As soon as the occupants of the car that cause the accident started bailing out of the car I knew I was in trouble. Got the accident report and called to report a claim against that driver's insurance company. We have been continuing to call to get updates- first we were told that the insurance company is trying to get authorization from the policy holder (since that was not who was driving) that the driver had the permission of the policy holder to drive the car. Now today they are telling me that they are trying to get verification of citizenship of the driver....... I know where this is heading- me paying my deductible to get my truck fixed......

Cant tell you how many times I have heard stories like this. Its insane. And the law abiding citizens end up paying for it. Sorry it has happened to you.

Unfortunately this is the norm. I deal with this every week. They either have no insurance or they have coverage from "Juan's Insurance", and of course they deny the claim, and then head to subrogation.

To add to the bills we have to pay for something that is not going to stop the problem?

How'd that wall in Vietnam play out for us, if you're old enough to remember that? If not, history has many lessons for our future.

It has happened to my wife twice. If Democrats total control, it will only get worse.

A few years ago my wife was the middle car in a five car pile up that totaled her car. She called me, i go to the scene of the accident. After i figure out she's okay, i head back to the crappy roofing truck that caused the accident. Police intercept me and ask what i'm doing. I tell them i'm going to talk to the truck driver to see about insurance. Cop tells me to not go any further, and shows me the "insurance" verification. It was a copy, of a copy, of a copy that had been clearly defaced. I told him there was no way that was valid. He says they have complied with the letter of the law.

Skip forward: Our insurance winds up paying for the car, the drivers of the roofing truck have never been seen of heard of again. So sad.

Wife was okay, and we got a replacement vehicle, so no worries there. But the system didn't work the way it's supposed to. The frustrating thing is that it played out EXACTLY like i knew it would in the heat of the moment sitting on the side of I35-W in the Ft. Worth mixmaster and there was nothing i could do about it. Oh well...

Guys, I hope you have an Umbrella Insurance policy. They shouldn't cost more that $400/year. If you would have bumped into those illegals, the would have rights to sue you.

Sounds more like an illegal rant than an insurance one!

One of 2 things should happen here:

                      - The carrier accepts liability and they pay for the damage to your truck

                      or

                      - They deny the claim, at which point the operator of the vehicle becomes an "uninsured motorist". Assuming you carry UIM coverage, your deductible will be $250.

                      Good luck!

I turn all info over to my agent and tell him to fix it. That's what I'm paying him to do. That way I don't have to deal with the other ins. co. at all. No stress.

This is infuriating. Assuming the way you tell it is true (and I'm not questioning that), the cops knew **** good and well you would have to pay and prevented you from getting more information, etc. Given the results, what they provided didn't follow the letter of the law because they didn't provide valid proof of insurance. I can take a square of toilet paper and write in crayon "This is my proof of insurance" but that doesn't make it valid. It probably isn't the cops fault as much as the system and they may have prevented you from assault, etc. which would cause you to go to jail but it is ridiculous.

So in a case like this, what statute would prevent someone from taking enough equipment off the roofing truck to use as collateral for your deductible. Theft may be the statute but if you make it known you aren't stealing the equipment just holding on to it until you make sure you don't have to pay the deductible it shouldn't be theft.

A situation like this hasn't happened to me yet (knocking on wood) but I have always pondered what I would do or could do. My first thought if hit by an uninsured driver is to start going thru their car whether I have permission or not until I find something I could sell to use to pay my deductible, etc.

Just let our country continue to be invaded?

You actually attempt to use a “ wall in Vietnam “ as justification to do nothing? Do YOU BENEFIT from illegal aliens working for you?

I want business owners who knowingly employ illegal aliens to go to jail.

Cross the border - go to jail.

Nothing changes till we are ****** enough to care. And I am
