I’ve got a 22ft Hurricane Fun Deck deck boat & my son always wants to bass fish but with out a trolling motor it’s hard to do. So I’m thinking about getting one. What size motor y’all think I need for this monstrosity of a boat? We just something simple to get the job done.

On that size boat I'd recommend a 36volt motor, but you could get by with a 24 volt. I put a new 36volt Ulterra on our boat, but it's far from simple and definitely not cheap. Also make sure you get the right shaft length, you'll most likely need the 60" for that size boat depending on how it sits in the water. I'm a fan of Minn-Kota, but Motorguide makes good motors too.

I have a 24v 102lb thrust ipilot on a 21'6" center console which weighs in around 1500# without the motor. Even in 15-20 mph wind I rarely see more than speed 5 out of 10 while bass fishing. BUT I don't think they make a 24v over 80 lbs anymore.
In my opinion anything around 80 is enough for that boat. 36v would get you longer run time but the extra hp you wont see or use very often.

I stopped this morning & looked at a few trolling motors. But the lady behind the desk wasn’t very helpful & she couldn’t find the person that would be helpful. So now my question is how much more run time would you get out of a 36v vs 24v? The ones she showed me they only had 80lb in 24v and in 36v 102lb. Price was between $1150-$1500.
