Speckled king! My favorite snake, as someone mentioned up top, they actually make a pretty good pet (or good to just keep around).

I caught one in Galveston last year that was every bit of 4' . Funny thing, without knowing that I had caught the kingsnake, the next day my mother sent me a picture she had found of me holding a speckled kingsnake when I was 10 years old or so.

Thanks guys. I've caught and kept snakes as pets most of my life. Kings are about the best. This one never even attempted to bite when I caught him.

Texted wife, (married almost 6 months), told her he followed me home and asked if I could keep him.

                        Yeah......that didn't work.

That's only the second one I've seen in this area in 20 years.

Yeah and even that's a large one, from what I've seen anyway. I don't know that I've ever seen one much over 3 1/2 feet long that I can remember. According to the internet the longest on record was 72" long. That's a crazy big speckled kingsnake. That would be impressive to see one of that size.

I saw one in Hockley about 5yrs ago about 4’ long. I went after it, it stopped and came after me. We agreed to leave each other alone after that.
