    Hunting with my Sightmark Wraith

I bought it used on here from fowltrouble2 on 7/5/19. We did a FTF sales in Forney @ 530. I turned it on after we parted ways and I couldn't se NOTHING I was super bummed. He gave me his external battery pack. I could see the screen and icons could cycle through the menu and such but couldn't see anything. I was bummed. I was fixing to call him and I learned something important, one of many, I had this problem several times last night. You need to remove the Objective lens cover before looking through it. Remove the objective lens cover before looking through the scope.

I didn't have a chance to mount it or sight it in. I was using it as a Handheld scanner.

Here's how the first night out went.

I spent more than an hour monkeying with it trying to get the Stock IR Illuminator aligned with the crosshairs. It was frustrating. I'd seen all kinds of videos on this scope and I was excited I was able to get this one. yet bummed cause I wasn't seeing what hey showed.
I had read the owners manual, kinda, before heading out. I knew the light has 3 settings, High Med, and Low. None which seemed to help. I could almost see the feeder, than id stand up an couldn't.
I had cell service so I downloaded the PDF Manual. So I learned he IR Illuminator starts off with Lo than Med than Hi and MOST IMPORTANTLY the flashlight has a focusable beam!! I next played with that. GAME CHANGER. I learned that on spot light there is lines you can see in the scope. I adjusted the flashlight til they were on the feeder and I could SEE. I next stood up and I could SEE!!!! I was happy happy happy.

On low there was still a lot of light being reflected back by the trees, so I widened the beam of the flashlight and that helped a lot by diffusing the light.

I took multiple video of landmarks and such to test the range with the stock IR illuminator.

    I like this video.

    [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXubR2Ne1sA"]6) Fence@ 150 yds Stock Iluminator on Low - YouTube[/ame]

In it you can see a fence @ 150 yds, I think Huntstand APP says 152.4yds. I have a Vortex Viper HST 6-24X50 scope mounted on my rifle. I use a Sniper Hawg Light 6LRX with the red bulb to do my night hunting. I can the trees with it but not the fence. One of my hunting buddies has an ATN Thor Thermal scope. I don't believe he can see the fence. to me that's just an interesting observation nothing more.

So I need to go get more batteries so I can sight it in and maybe hunt with it tonight.
    I'll keep updating

Here's a couple of pictures. Im using my PC. I'll try and make them smaller maybe.

The top picture is of a T-Post @ 115 yds. I didn't focus it very well.

The second is of some hay bales @ 253 yds

I'm fairly certain I had the IR Illuminator on low for both pictures.

Had the lens cover issue too so don’t feel so bad haha. I don’t think I knew the IR had a focus, but I plan on upgrading mine soon. Everything I’ve ready from others that upgrade say you can get out to 800 yards with a better IR. Check out the Sightmark Wraith Facebook page of you have fb, lots of good info on there.

        Went out last night.
My IR Illuminator was on top of my scope Soni moved it to the picatiny where I can mount my bipods. It worked but was hard to reach so I moved it to my handguard. Tried 2 spots. Still not sure where I want it.

I smelled sweet maple syrup and pee. I believed than and now there was a pig in the area. My IR wasn't shining as bright as it used to, I figured my batteries was dying. Sure enough as I'm looking for this pig I can barely see anything. I swap the batteries out and get back to looking. I didn't see it

        Maybe next time.

Maple syrup and pee is a dead giveaway.

You need to quit your job and just post a hunting video everyday.

There has to be something wrong with your 66LRX in Red or you have a very low battery if you can't see a fence line at 152 yards with a scope. Heck, I can see a fence line at 150 yards without using a scope with the 66LRX in Red. You want to be blown away, put the IR 850nm LED module in the 66LRX light and you will easily double the distance you can see over the stock IR light that comes with the Wraith. Remember the 66LRX light also has a focusable beam.

Focusable beam AND a dimmer switch.
                        Well mine does [emoji1303]

                        That's the plan for tonight

Got my first pig last night. 7/12/19

The red glow is from my Sniper Hawg Light 66LRX with 850nm IR light. I didn't realize I forgot to turn it off.
