GameGuard Micro Fiber VS Columbia

I have lost some weight and need to get some new shirts. I am wanting to get some good long sleeve button ups for my upcoming safari hunt. I have never worn any of the GameGuard stuff. Is it better quality than the Columbia? How is the fit?

They make a cheaper Columbia shirt that does not compare to the game gaurd. But the better Columbia shirts are very similar. I would say it’s a toss up fit is the same. Maybe slightly more room in a Columbia

Vast Majority of the Columbia fishing line smokes game guard but they are the original not the imitation. It’s also hard to compare one shirt line to Columbia’s 15 PFG fishing shirt line that incorporates many different technology lines, so in a part not really a far comparison. My experience Columbia PFG line runs large compared to every thing else

Best? Kind of a loaded question

IMO
Wade fishing-blood and guts(the coating makes it dry really quick and doesn’t stain)
Boat- lowdrag off shore(like pockets and material) and deflector zero with built in face gaiter
Dress and everyday Tamiami due to slim fit option and breathability and super light fabric
My favorite all time everyday Dress is bonefish using Brooks brother no iron cloth, but it’s expensive.

I just picked up a then new force zero for Father’s Day but havent worn it yet.

Ive always liked the gameguard stuff but it seems like the buttons like to come unraveled all the time on my long sleeve ones

Look at the Drake flyweight shirts. They are new and are pretty lightweight and comfortable.

My favorite Columbia shirts are the Tamiami and Bahama II. I probably prefer the Tamiami the most.

Game Guard shirts are pretty nice. Heck, Magellen has even come on strong with a few of their shirts. I really like their plaid Aransas Pass shirts that are out right now.

I have bought about every kind of fishing shirt out there. I prob have a dozen of both. GG fits a little looser which I need because I got fat (6-0 245) but depends on your build. I’m down to 230 now and the UA and Columbia ones fit really good now. GG shirts have held up pretty well too for me.

Justin you are going to be hunting mostly out of hides, wear black but carry some camo just in case you do some spot and stalk. Remember, the PH’s do not ever wear camo unless it is for a TV show! Not sure if Harry or Gary own any camo!.

Yeah I wasn’t planning to get camo. Just dark colors
