    Fun/Interesting build at the shop

Family friend had an interesting project for me. Making him a parade ride starting with a 1954 Chevy and an old manure spreader. He’s going to put a sign in the spreader that says US CONGRESS.

    Here’s the truck...

This is the subframe I built yesterday installed ready for the spreader...

Got the spreader put on the truck, now I just have to get it welded up. Next I will be modifying the spreader and hopefully after the parade this week I will be able to actually make it turn.

That’s not a 54 would have to be a 53 or earlier with that grill. Nice truck though and sounds like a fun project to follow along.

He thought it was a '54 and about every old man that's come by the shop has given me anywhere from '51-'56 lol.

For sure not a 54 or later 54 and first half of 55 had the same 3 bar grill. Second half of 55 had a completely new more square body style. See attached pics.

Thanks for the info, I’ll pass it along to him. Spreader is welded to the subframe, now I have to figure out how I’m going to clean this busted area up.

Well she’s ready to go for the July 4th parade. I have everything working and spinning free so after the parade he’ll bring it back and I’ll make it where it all turns by electric motor during the parades. That’s going to take a couple days I’m sure. Been fun!
