    Jefferson Tx

My brother keeps telling me I need to ride my motorcycle to Jefferson some weekend or take my kayak one weekend, he loves it there. Does anyone know anything about Jefferson?

Pretty cool town. Go hang out at Auntie Skinners one evening on the weekend. Good time there. Food is good too.

Yes... put in your kayak on the river there in Jefferson and bring rod with some small lures. Nice place for a day trip and get a burger, explore, and see some sights.

Neat little town. I always stop at Joseph's Riverport BBQ for lunch when I'm in the area. Get a side of hot water corn bread.

Put in on little cypress or black cypress. My cousin and I would take a 10 ft Jon boat with trolling motor and go up and down catching all the fish you could imagine on spinnerbaits and buzz baits. I’ve got a 8lber on the wall that came out of little cypress one summer doing this.

Jefferson is a cool little town for sure with lots to do. The wife and I took in a B&B there a couple of years ago and had a great 3-4 days. We did a night time ghost tour, a neat little train ride and cypress boat tour of Caddo Lake.
Some good eating at Austin Street Bistro and McGarity’s Saloon. We weren’t a big fan of the famous Auntie Skinner’s place.....more of a smoke filled biker bar IMO.

Thanks for all the replies. What kinds of fish are in the river?

I worked in Jefferson for a week. It is a cool town, I really enjoyed it. People are super friendly. I’d like to take to wife there. Interested in the fishing also.

Typical stuff. Bass, catfish, gar, perch. They’re all bayous. The good fishing is on the smaller ones.

You can also do the boat tour just across the bridge. My grandfather used to be one of the guides. It’s a good tour that provides the history of the town. I spent my younger summers working in the gift shop and driving the boats. If you go try to do a tour with Johnny. He’s the owner for 30+ years and one of the nicest people around.
