My feeder holds 400lb runs 12 weeks before empty. I have the timer set 5 second feed times twice per day. 168 spins about 2.34lbs per spin. Eliminator plate. Give or take

Do you know how many kernels that would be? Asking for a friend...
Easy to measure---get a 5-gal bucket and punch the feed start and hold the bucket against the bottom of the barrel. When spin stops, weigh the corn in the bucket.

This is what we did. We have 10 55 gallon feeders and had them all set for the same run time and they would run out at different times. We wanted the corn to last 4 weeks during the season and 12 weeks during the off season. We finally measured corn in a bucket and now each feeder is set accordingly. We also wrote the run times on the feeder so we can keep it right

That’s no fun....take your bucket and gather up all the corn after it lands on the ground and then weigh that.
I think yall are WAAAAYYYYYY overthinking it...…………..
Living 5 hours away will certainly have you overthinking what you are putting out and how long before you need to go back or what you need to set it on to make 600lbs, corn or protein, last until you can get back...
Good info. I always just guesstimate by past history and adjusting accordingly. I try to make sure my 500lb feeders will last at least 6 weeks and that the deer are eating it all. (In other words corn is not piling up, which generally is never a problem.)
I have always gone by the 1 sec 1 pound rule and I know that's is probably not right. Has anyone actually measured how much corn is thrown in say a 5 second throw or a 3 second throw? Assuming the spinner plate is adjusted properly and no coon involvement.
Thanks
I set them at 2 seconds twice a day in the off season and adjust from there. I run 4 300lb feeders and 1 600lb feeder. My goal is to have them throw about 250lbs each in 8 weeks because I get to the ranch but about every 8 or 9 and don’t want them to run out.
They range anywhere from 2 seconds to 8 seconds depending on the gap and feeder. My spin tech throws the least because I never took the cone off the bottom from the previous feeder.

This is what I would do
This will give you a close number as to how long the corn SHOULD last
But you need to take into account if you are having loss due to other sources
