Houston to Midland route

I worked in Big Spring and Garden City while living in Katy. I'm a fan of 10 to 71 in Columbus to 87 in Brady to 158 in Sterling City to Midland. Few lights, some traffic if you hit Austin at the wrong time. Couple farmers markets along the way to stock up on fruits and veggies. The Trooper count gets thick near the main cities, but not too bad. Stay within 10% and they wont bother with you.

I-10 all the way 349 to Iraan to Rankin to Midland. I drive there from San Antonio every couple of months for work and that is about as fast and simple as it gets.

When I went to midland few weeks I took 290 to Austin then went through Llano to San Angelo then 87 to 158 right into midland. Very little traffic once I got past Austin and it no oilfield traffic until I got about half an hour outside midland.

It was a nicer drive I thought then I-10 since it was mostly back roads. There was some construction but I didn’t have any delays.

This is my favorite route. I’ve taken multiple from Houston beautiful drive my favorite part is around Sterling City
