Meh....VW admitted guilt, fired everyone involved, the executives involved went to jail, they paid $4.3B in fines, fixed or bought back every one of the 500,000 effected diesels in the US and pledged to build the most emission efficient vehicles on the planet. I’m satisfied. At least they didn’t con the American Taxpayers into bailing them out because their unions are so corrupt they can’t make a profit. #toobigtofail
Can't argue with that . As an American taxpayer, I still feel like I got no Vaseline and will never buy a GM product.
After the Diesel engine fiasco I don’t trust anything VW makes.
"Fiasco" LOL. For who? People with VW's here actually benefited from it.
I think it was awesome they tried to stick it to The Man LOL. Most US States don't even smog check diesels.
We wouldn't buy another VW for other reasons than the emissions thing. Overall Quality just isn't there. We have a 2014 Passat TDI and a 2016 Jetta TSI. I'm the type that keeps a vehicle for at least 10 years. I don't think these are going to make it

Agreed.
1st reason is pure principal.
2nd is there has been a noticeable decline in quality since they became Government Motors.
I've always had GM trucks and they go 300k until I move on to a newer one. I dont see these newer ones doing that without serious issues along the way.

I made out like a bandit from VW over my wifes Porsche Cayenne with the diesel.....
Paid me over $11,000...reprogrammed the computer...replaced the DEF system and extended the cars warranty for 3 additional years....
Best car I have ever owned....
My buddy is a finance manager for VW down in Clear Lake area...he said they cant keep that Atlas on the lot.....flying out of there as soon as they come in....
That atlas, Volvo and Kia are some of the best looking mid sized SUV’s on the market.

Lol, that's like saying they are top of the **** pile. SUV's these days are the most uninspired, boring, lethargic, depressing looking vehicles ever made, apart from anything built in the 80's (Think of those horrific C4 Corvettes). For example, the new Durango is built on a car chassis, and most SUV's are FWD these days. Honestly, how is it Toyota makes the last real SUV these days, the 4runner and Landcruiser (RWD, Live rear axle)?
My wife has a Rav4. If you ever wanted to get lost in a crowd on I-10, that is the vehicle to do it in.
The only drawback I had with VW was when it broke down the parts are very high $$$.....you cannot find most parts at local auto parts stores, most were dealer only....
I did a LOT of research on high end cross-over (SUV) type vehicles with the 3rd row seating as my wife wanted to upgrade from her Toyota Camry (she also has a 4Runner that we likely will never get rid of...). I went out and drove the Atlas along with Lexus RX350L, Acura MDX, and the Infiniti(whatever model that was that had the 3 seats)... I compared reviews, maintenance records and Narrowed the picks down to either the Lexus or Acura.
The Atlas started out as my top pick as it is larger than all the others and has more inside room in all three rows of seats. It lost out because of fuel economy, poor maintenance reviews (which is typical of all the German imports such as BMW's and such).
The Acura MDX (with all the bells and whistles) was what we ultimately bought for 2 main reasons... It is a well appointed vehicle, looks nice, very comfortable and the quietest cabin of them all. Plus, I have owned just about everything Honda makes and have always had great success with them and when maintenance is required, good service (with the exception of John Eagle Honda). She's been driving it about 4 months now and I get to drive it when we are out together sometimes, and I have to say, that is the most comfortable vehicle I've ever driven or ridden in I think in my entire life. The thing will almost drive itself with the various driver assist options activated and its navigation system is far superior to my Ford Sync/Nav system.
I'd recommend anyone looking for this type of (rather non-descript) vehicle take a look/test drive of the Acura MDX (or the more sporty RDX) before you make your final decision.
Wife got an Atlas in March. It's been nice. Tons of safety features, cameras, driver assist stuff. Very comfortable.
We did a lot of research and with three kids this is not our first SUV for her. We've had Jeeps, an Explorer, a Honda, a Toyota etc over the past several years. At some point its splitting hairs. Pick one that the whole package works for you.
I’m about to make you sick......we got ours from the “Hail Damage” sale they had at North Park VW in Boerne. They knocked $12K off and fixed all the dents.....not one noticeable dent. I believe they still have several left. There were over 80 damaged.
Dang. Gonna have to check into that. Another question for you. How do you like it compared to the qx80?
