    Truck AC problems

I have 2000 Chevy Silverado 2wd 5.3 L, and it runs like a top and i love the truck, but the AC has started acting up on me. It works great in the cooler mornings but then when it heats up the compressor wont come on and I get hot air for the rest of the day.

Chevy dealer tech said it is pressure switch on the compressor, and I told him I just changed it and the one on the truck is brand new. Tech said, if it's not a GM replacement part, that is prob why the part is not working right. $150 later and I am no closer to fixing my AC.

Yall ever heard of "non" GM replacement sensors not working properly with the truck? I wonder if the tech is full of BS or jerking me around!?

I think he’s subscribing to the philosophy of replacing parts with OEM.

In many cases it’s true. I won’t replace alternators anymore with oreilly specials.

Just had same maybe the same problem as you are having on my 2001 GMC . Works fine for a while then compressor stopped operating after driving a few miles. Found compressor was shutting off on high pressure switch but this was due to the compressor cycling switch on the accumulator not operating. if this switch does not cycle compressor the head pressure will increase and shut down The cycling switch operates on the low pressure side and as the temp cools down the pressure lowers thus cycling compressor off and back on when temp/pressure increases This switch is about 20 bucks at Auto Zone and has a one year warranty It can be changed easily There should be a Schrader valve when removing to keep from losing refrigerant from system
      Good luck
