This was the Red River last Saturday just northeast of Vernon. That area is normally a trickle of water you can easily walk across. I figure it was about 4 - 5 feet deep at that time. No telling how wide that river was that day. I can only imagine what it looks like now. Hopefully the cattle on the Oklahoma side found higher ground.
Wow!! I've been by that trickle many times...never seen it anywhere close to THAT!!

That stretch of river is the north boundary of one of our lease pastures. We're above the river. Oklahoma is below and to the north. It was a sight and sound to behold. The flat land outside of the river looked like, basically was, a swamp. Bad deal.
It'll be interesting to see the changes when the water subsides.

Definitely gonna be some landscape changes!! I still cant believe that...wow
In the next pic, the two bodies of water off to the left are not, at least were not, part of the river. They were man made duck ponds. Now part of one giant body of water.
The second pic looks back to the east. All the bottom land to the north looks like a swamp. Again, that is not part of the river. The part that is the river is normally about 50 yards wide, and 4" deep of water. Not so much now.
My best friend from High School has 6miles of Red River frontage on his Oklahoma ranch. I was up visiting last week and it was almost over the bank. He told me one of the pecan orchard bottoms we were ridin in has been under 6ft of water twice in the 40yrs he's owned the place.
