    Plant ID

What kind of plant/bush is this. I am thinking about trying to find some and plant around the house as a decorative plant but need to know what it is.

They really take off in full sun and get some great flowers. They have a lot of different colors at the stores.

Thanks for the ID on these. So can they be treated and planted similar to a shrub? And shaped like a shrub? Basically wanting something decorative to out around the base of the house in the front yard that will grow to about 3-4 ft tall and fill in decently thick. And if it does want to go taller want to be able to square it off on the tops to stay out of the main view of my windows. Would this be a good plant for that?

It's not really a hedge type plant, but can be trimmed easily. It's rather viney too as opposed to a bush.

Yup, Lantana as said above. Smells like cat pee when you rub against them Butterflies love them, deer are repelled by them. I have some.

When you buy it, for what you want, be sure you don’t get the spreading variety. That will stay low and dread out. Check the tag to see how high and wide your’s Will grow.

These are great perennial flowering plants for full sun, but they die back every winter, then come back. If you are looking for a true shrub, this may not be what you want. You really can’t “train” it to be neat. It will look somewhat unkempt but will flower profusely.

Thanks for the info. That's fine if they are a bit unruly if they flower up nicely and I am ok with them dying out once a year for the winter. Just wanting to add some color to the front yard and something hardy enough that I will have to try to kill it. These won't be in full sun but will catch good sunlight for about 7 hrs every day.

Yeah, it is one of my favorite flowering plants; low maintenance, disease free, and prolific flowers. It is easy to plant them too close together, so be sure you give them room as recommended for the specific species.

Don't worry about it dying. Once established it is as hard to kill out as bamboo.
