2019/2020 east Texas hunting thread..

Saw 5 bucks on my commute home yesterday between 6 and 630 pm in Houston Co. They are certainly moving around

Right in the major activity time for yesterday. 3pm to dark.

I'm worried sick about that. This deer is close to our neighbors, he is a 5yo, had him at 23 yards and let him walk. We don't kill trophy until they are 6yo

Nice deer. I did the same last year with a 4 yr old. Hated to do it cause he was a good buck. But like Johnny said,

He cant be a trophy 6 yr old if you shoot him at 4

Hunted the Davy Crockett yesterday. I only saw two other people out bow hunting yesterday. My buddy shot his first doe with a bow at 10:30 am and at 5pm I shot my first DC buck. He came in pushing a doe around and almost got away from me. Ended up stopping him and sending one right through his heart at 35 yards. I can’t post photos since I’m not paying for Tapatalk I guess or I would.

Thanks man! This is my third year bowhunting the DC. I’ve had a pretty strict goal of getting my first bow kill in the DC on a buck. I’ve spent many hours in stands to no avail, but this guy came into the beauty berry pushing a doe and he finally slipped around me at 35 yards. I stopped him, made the shot, he ran maybe 20-30 yards then rolled about 65 yards down a steep hill and died in the water. He’s not the biggest buck by far, but I’m **** proud of him. Now we have an ice chest full of meat. Gonna get back out and try to get my buddy his first bow buck kill this evening.

I found out our neighbor shot 3 pigs this morning, so I feel a little better about things.
