    Hisun UTV, Pros & Cons??

Anyone know anything about theses machines, the good, the bad, the ugly?
I'm thinking about buying one, but I don't know very much about them.

I have a Coleman, which is made by hisun. It seems to be a clone of the Yamaha rhino. While it is definitely not the quality of the Yamaha, it has been a good machine. I had it going on year four and have close to 2500 miles on it and they haven’t been pampered miles. I use it to carry 500 pounds of corn per trip to the feeders that the truck can’t get to and the 4-8 mile ride to the stands and back. If you are mechanically capable of doing maintenance and general repairs I would not be afraid of one. They have come a long way from the first off brand atvs.

I own a Hisun myself, ATV not UTV. I’m a relative Polaris owner , I have 3 Polaris bikes @ my hunt camp.

Friend of mine bought a car business which has a Hisun franchise and had a 2015 Hisun 700 left over back in 2017. I bought it for $3700 with 5 miles on it and Ushipped it to my hunt camp in Florida.

It’s been close to great for me. Rides very nice.

Researching up on Hisun, I discovered Yamaha invested in building the China plant. They worked a deal with blueprints for the older Grizzly which is what I have. Mine is a twin to my hunting buddy’s 2012 Grizzly.

I’ve had 2 issues with mine. It died and wouldn’t start. Thought it was solenoid but ended up starter. Hisun starter was a ton of money. But decided by looking to buy a Yamaha Grizzly 700 starter. Was like $40 maybe on EBay ? Bolted right on where it still is a year or more later.

Next, I broke the pull coil trying to overcome the starter issue. Disassembled it completely. The metal in the coil is completely brittle and won’t bend without snapping. Inferior compound of metals in the coil. I have not replaced it and just took it off completely.

A great asset for me. I’ve found you need to turn the engine off in neutral because when in drive, the bike lurches forward, and the starter whines. I believe this is what caused my popped starter.

Thanks guys, that's some good info. I've been comparing Sector 750 Crew to a Kawasaki Mule Pro-FXT. Price wise and spec wise they're very comparable, but the price on the Hisun includes a windshield and a winch, which is extra on the mule.

Mikerosa, I was told by the dealer that Hisun also makes the parts for Polaris Rangers, if this is in fact correct, replacement parts may not be that difficult or expensive to get.

Thanks for the replies, I do appreciate it.

I have a 400 utv that is old. When they first came out my uncle bought one, 2 years ago went to trade it in and they literally offered him nothing for it. He gave it to my pa instead. I did have to replace the drive clutch bearing on it, but I did it myself. We don't use it for anything crazy, and it gins right along

Gotta remember, this is a Chinese company so technology trade secrets don’t matter much to them.

              BTW

I forgot to add. Hisun sends their bikes in parts to their plant in TEXAS and from there, are assembled and distributed throughout America.

Mine even came with Carlisle 489 tires the same my Polaris 500 came with.

I’m not sure of price differences between the Hisun and say a comparable Polaris, Honda or Can Am. I bought my 700 because it was super cheap. For a few dollars more, I’d buy a Polaris. But in my instance it was 40% cheaper than a Polaris and worth the roll of the dice. Imho anyway.

How does the price compare to Polaris for a comparable model?

Clifton does not have a big inventory you tell them what you want and they will go get it .

I really don't know how they compare with a Polaris, I wasn't interested in a Polaris so I never looked.

Yes they are Stick Flicker, they've been doing all my maintenance and repairs on my ATV's / UTV's for a couple of yrs now. They're good folks. They're suppose to get a couple new models in this week, I plan on swinging by and checking them out later.

I’d say couple G’s less for a Hisun.

Another additional add the Hisun has is that they come pretty much fully rigged.

Mine has a winch, blinker turn signal lights and horn for those states and cities that permit ATV/UTV use on the street like my friend in Arizona. He drives his Razor now Can Am to Starbucks on his day off or to work if he wants. He had to upfit it with the street do dad’s. Hisun comes standard.

This thread got me wondering so looked up a bunch of reviews on them, biggest complaints were getting parts/customer service after the sale. A lot said their issues weren't covered under the "warranty". Liked the Gravely at our feed store but found out they are made by Polaris. Tracker had an ad on TV and they are made by Textron which used to be Artic Cat. Everything keeps steering me back to the Trans Mule.....
