All of you guys replying that it's not getting used if it doesn't have scratches are the reason I don't like to borrow or loan stuff. It's one thing if you tear up your own stuff but tearing up something borrowed is a different story.

OP I would just tell the owner what happened and tell him you will do whatever he wants to make it right. If he is the kind of person that is going to tell you not to worry about it and its still in usable condition then just get him a gift. Something you know he would use but might not buy for himself.

        That's why I NEVER borrow anything...EVER...

Learned my lesson years ago... If I cant buy or rent it, then I don't need it.
LOL I agree, every time I have loaned out one of my trailers they comeback missing a light or two or something , I have finally got where I don’t even notice or fix it ( heck I will just rip off the lights again myself)
Stuff like oil dripping/ leaking on the deck is the normal

Just don’t bring it back with thorns in the tires or covered in mud or full of cow poop
Or you will never borrow them again

P.S if you drive a DODGE don’t even ask me to borrow it ( dodges seem to have a different wiring sequence! And I hate having to rewire my couplers)

Compound the scratch out then a couple coats of wax.
